As a direct result of the abductions occurring in Northern Uganda, many children flee their homes at night and seek refugee in urban centers for relative safety. These children are known as "night commuters" because of the long distances they travel nightly on foot.

According to the UNHCR, current figures estimate over 6 million refugees are hosted in camps all around the world.6 Over half of them live in Africa. Camps have constituted the main method of assistance for all displaced people around the world.

After years spent in either captivity or in IDP(internally displaced person) camps, scores of children have grown up with no access to education. Without the opportunities of education, children cannot build the basic foundations of their future.

Each week, thousands of people are driven out of their homes and forced into Internally Displaced Person's camps in Northern Uganda. While reducing the security in family and community networks, these people are left with no alternative than to stay at the IDP(internally displaced person) camps.
